Currently there is a shortage of 100,000 Large goods vehicle drivers. Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) drivers transport goods between locations. They move items for suppliers and customers, locally, nationally and internationally. As a lorry driver, you will spend a lot of time on the road and could be away from home frequently. You will need to have:


  • Knowledge of transport methods, costs and benefits.

  • Demonstrate safe manual handling skills.

  • Be patient and have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

  • A good eye to detail.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Work in a fast paced environment.

  • A strong team player.

  • Able to operate equipment safely and securely.

  • Competent in the use of a computer.


Our driver training programme is open to anyone over the age of 18.

What we offer

On completion and achievement of our 10 week programme you will be eligible to drive both a rigid and articulated vehicle.  The costs of the programme covers:

  • Medical

  • Application for the provisional driving licence

  • Online Driver Theory Materials (module 1 and 2)
